Carter's final baseball game of the summer is tonight at Northwestern College, on an artificial turf field. One issue that we had was cleats. No metal allowed. So, we stopped at Play it Again Sports and bought a $9.97 pair!
The game started in SLP's favor - they scored 3 runs in their first at bats. Carter started playing in the game in right field. I have often wondered why right not left, and Uncle Tommy (who came to the game!) let me in on the secret (that the faster/harder the pitcher throws, the batter tends to swing later and therefore hits it to right field, not left!). Unfortunately, their lead did not last too long. A few errors is all it takes for the game to change direction.
Carter had a good catch in right field. He also had a good stop - not a catch but the ball did not get past him and he held the kid at 1st.
Carter's 1st at bat, he hit the ball, but got out
He had a great hit in the 6th inning. The excitement on his face was priceless. I told Dawson I would take some video (he was at a football camp, he really wanted to go to the game) and I was so excited, I forgot. I did get some photos, though they are a little blurry but that moment. Him having a great hit. Him running to 1st. That face. That excitement.
SLP did not quite have enough bang in them and they ended up losing, but still coming in 2nd place, 7 ~ 10. It was an exciting game and had they not had that bad first inning the game may have ended up differently! Ifound out later on that there was talk that if they won tonight, they would maybe play in Kentucky, in a little league playoff! That would have be so cool!
Taking his place in right field - Jackson's giving him a five!
Avery scoring! Carter got a RBI!
Mickey hitting the ball, Carter waiting to run from 1st!
2nd place! Good job, Panthers!
Dad will be buried soon so I wanted to get some photos of his urn prior!
Dad would NOT have approved but it was the only one I could find. None of this ZERO Coke for him!
